Operating Systems. Choosing a Path.

02 min

This is the first chapter, and it will be dedicated to lyrical discussions, ideas, and mistakes; at the same time, it is a very important chapter about choosing a path. The path, in our understanding, is the choice of an operating system (OS) or a combination of systems when two or more operating systems are used on one computer. The right path is the foundation of your security.

According to the statistics we have gathered, more than 90% of course readers using desktop computers are users of Windows or macOS operating systems, at least they were before reading this.

I will not deny that in our course we will actively encourage you to switch to a Linux-based operating system – and there are many reasons for this. But I will not start with them; instead, I will address the myths that have firmly taken root in the internet community and prevent users from transitioning to a secure operating system.

Myth

I am a beginner in these matters; I won't be able to install and configure the recommended Linux-based operating system myself.

Reality

We will teach you everything, step by step, explaining how to install the new system and set up comprehensive anonymity and security on it.

Myth

By installing the recommended Linux-based system, I will lose my main operating system.

Reality

The new operating system can be installed as a second system, as well as on a USB flash drive, SD card, or external hard drive, and will not affect your main system in any way. You can initially use Linux as a virtual system, but we still hope that you will install a Linux-based system as your main OS.

Myth

It is difficult to use a Linux-based operating system.

Reality

The Linux Mint operating system that we recommend is no more difficult to use than Windows or macOS.
