In this chapter of the course, we talked about creating a strong password, in this – how to store it securely, and in this – how to enter it safely, but we haven't said a word about login. And now we have something important for you.

A major mistake many users make is using the same email across all sites as a login. It's better if it's a separate email, but some even use their personal or work email address for this purpose.

Important

Do not use the same email as a login on different sites, and under no circumstances should you use your personal or work email for this.

Another extreme is using a unique email for each site. This is good from a security standpoint, but it requires a huge amount of time. We cannot ask readers of the course to do the impossible.

If you use a password manager, you don't need to remember your login, and you can confidently use a random combination of letters and numbers as your login. But in theory, many sites require you to use an email or at least leave the option to recover access using an email.
